60th IR, august 1944, Normandy
Dear Readers,
In the framework of historical research around the 3rd Armored Division, I would like to get as much information as possible about the 60th Infantry Regiment which was attached to the 3rd AD from 14 to 18 August 1944 while this division was operating in South Normandy in the aim to close what was later called the Falaise gap. Any Information, photographs, contact with veterans and their families, knowledge about that period would be a great addition to my research. The 60th Infantry Regiment has probably participated to the liberation of Couptrain / Lignières-la-Doucelle / Joué-du-Bois / Ranes / Fromentel crossroad /…
The 47th & 39th IR were operating on the left flank of the 60th IR. All information about these two more regiments within the same period would also be really appreciated. Engagements for the 47th & 39th were observed in the town of Beauvain / Faverolles / Briouze.
